Japanese: ソシオ･エコノミックス（英語表記）socio‐economics

Socio-economics. Economics that treats economic processes not as independent, but as subject to interaction with political, social, and cultural processes. As can be seen from the title of the book by M. Weber and T. Parsons, "Economy and Society," economic research in this direction has been conceived mainly by sociologists. In other words, it is called socio-economics, meaning economics based on a sociological perspective. However, because the social sciences tend to be discussed as independent of each other, there have been few attempts to position economics as a partial study of one aspect of social facts, namely the material and technological aspects, and to holistically relate it to research on other aspects.

社会経済学。経済過程を，独立のものとしてではなく，政治的，社会的そして文化的な過程との相互作用のもとにあるものとして扱う経済学。M.ウェーバーとT.パーソンズの著書名《経済と社会》からもうかがわれるように，こうした方向における経済研究はおもに社会学者によって構想されてきた。つまり，社会学的な観点を基礎にする経済学という意味で社会経済学socio‐economicsとよばれるのである。しかし，社会諸科学はそれぞれ独立したものとして論じられる傾向にあるため，社会的事実の一側面つまり物質的･技術的側面に関する部分的な研究として経済学を位置づけ，それと他の諸側面に関する研究とを総体的に関連づけるような試みは少なかった。
