Fern

Japanese: fern
Fern

Ferns are a group of polyphyletic vascular plants that remain at the spore stage and are not considered to be a systematic group. Ferns are generally classified as true ferns, but other ferns include the psilots, lycopods, and horsetails (collectively known as fernallies).
[Life cycle]
All non-seeding vascular plants have an independent life cycle consisting of a sporophyte (the body of a common fern) and a gametophyte (the prothallus), which alternate in a regular pattern.
