Inunaki Pass - Inunaki Pass

Japanese: 犬鳴峠 - いぬなきとうげ

A pass in the northern part of the Sangun Mountains in northern Fukuoka Prefecture. It is also called "Innaki Pass." It is 367m above sea level and connects Hisayama Town and Miyawaka City. It is located at the watershed between the Onga River system and the Tatara River system that flows into Hakata Bay, and is the highest point on the prefectural road connecting Fukuoka City and Nogata City. The Fukuoka Tunnel (8,488m) of the Sanyo Shinkansen passes through the pass slightly north. Inunaki Dam, upstream of the Inunaki River, a tributary of the Onga River, is a famous spot for viewing autumn leaves, and nearby is the carbonated spring of Wakita Onsen. The Yagiyama River Valley on the east side of the pass belongs to Dazaifu Prefectural Natural Park.

福岡県北部，三郡山地の北部にある峠。「いんなきとうげ」ともいう。標高 367m。久山町と宮若市を結ぶ。遠賀川水系と，博多湾に注ぐ多々良川水系の分水嶺に位置し，福岡市と直方市を結ぶ県道上の最高点。山陽新幹線の福岡トンネル (8488m) が峠のやや北側を抜けている。遠賀川の支流犬鳴川上流の犬鳴ダムは紅葉の名所で，付近に炭酸泉の脇田温泉がある。峠の東側の八木山川渓谷は太宰府県立自然公園に属する。
