Pottery used mainly in the Hokkaido region following the Jomon period. Satsumon pottery was established after this pottery. In the early period, pottery such as Kabuto-style, Kotoni-style, Okaribe-style, and Okotsu-style, which have small amounts of bump patterns, were distributed throughout almost the entire prefecture. Next, Esan-style pottery with sunken lines was distributed mainly in southern Hokkaido, and Zenhoku-style pottery with rope lines, bump patterns, and pasted patterns was distributed mainly in eastern and northern Hokkaido. As Gohoku-style pottery, which has developed pasted patterns, was established in central Hokkaido, regional characteristics gradually disappeared, and by the time of Gohoku C1 -style pottery, the entire prefecture was uniform.
