Soga no Akae

Date of birth and death unknown. A high-ranking official in the Asuka period. Son of SOGA no Omi Kuramaro (also called Omasa, son of Umako). In October 658 (4th year of Emperor Saimei's reign), he was the caretaker when Emperor Saimei visited Ideyu in Kii. He provoked Prince Arima, the surviving son of Emperor Kokutoku, by pointing out three mismanagement mistakes made by the Emperor and encouraging him to rebel, and he had Prince Arima and his attendants arrested and sent to Kii where they were executed. After that, he was promoted in the political world, and in 669 (8th year of Emperor Tenchi's reign), he was made Tsukushi no Kami, but in 671, when Prince Otomo became Daijo Daijin, he was appointed Sadaijin and also called Treasury Daijin. During this time, he made his daughter Hitachi no Iratsume the wife of Emperor Tenji, and his daughter Oonu no Iratsume the wife of Prince Oama (Emperor Tenmu). However, in July of 672 (the first year of Emperor Tenmu's reign), when the Omi Court was defeated in the Jinshin War, he was exiled as one of the high-ranking officials.

生没年不詳。飛鳥(あすか)時代の高官。蘇我臣倉麻呂(おみくらまろ)（雄当(おまさ)ともいう。馬子の子）の子。658年（斉明天皇4）10月、斉明(さいめい)天皇が紀伊温湯(いでゆ)に行幸したときの留守官となる。孝徳(こうとく)天皇の遺子有間(ありま)皇子に、天皇の三失政をあげて謀反を勧めて挑発し、有間皇子と従者を捕らえて紀伊に送って刑死させた。以後、政界で昇進し、669年（天智天皇8）に筑紫率(つくしのかみ)とされたが、671年に大友皇子が太政(だいじょう)大臣になった際に左大臣に任じられ、蔵大臣とも号した。この間、娘の常陸娘(ひたちのいらつめ)を天智(てんじ)天皇の妃に、大蕤娘(おおぬのいらつめ)を大海人(おおあま)皇子（天武(てんむ)天皇）の夫人に入れた。しかし、672年（天武天皇1）7月、壬申(じんしん)の乱で近江(おうみ)朝廷側が敗れると、その高官の1人として流罪にされた。
