A Renga master from the Muromachi period. His pen name was Tsukimurasai. There is a theory that he was the son of a hoesmith from Ibarae, Owari Province (Aichi Prefecture). He studied Renga under Iio Sogi, and was a senior disciple who was present at Sogi's deathbed together with Socho at Hakone Yumoto. In 1510, he established a hermitage at the site of Sogi's Tanegyoku-an, and gradually rose to become a powerful figure in the world of Renga. He was friends with Sanjonishi Sanetaka, Konoe Hisamichi, and Hosokawa Takakuni, and was especially close to Sanetaka. He often traveled to Mino, Owari, Noto, Echizen, and other areas, and played the role of a cultural communicator connecting the provinces and the center. His journey to Kuwana in Ise Province in 1522 was recorded in the travelogue "Sano no Watari." Many of his works remain, and although they can be said to be elegant in style, they are not unique.

室町時代の連歌師。号は月村斎。尾張国(愛知県)茨江の鍬鍛冶の子という説がある。連歌を飯尾宗祇に学び,宗長と共に箱根湯本で宗祇の臨終をみとった高弟。永正7(1510)年に宗祇の種玉庵跡に庵を結び,次第に連歌界の実力者にのしあがった。三条西実隆,近衛尚通,細川高国らと交際,特に実隆とは親しかった。美濃,尾張,能登,越前などにしばしば下向,地方と中央を結ぶ文化の伝達者としての役割も果たしている。大永2(1522)年の伊勢国桑名への旅は紀行『佐野のわたり』に記された。作品は多く残っており,優美な作風とはいえるが個性的ではない。
