Year of birth: Year of birth and death unknown. She was the favorite concubine of the retired Emperor Gotoba in the early Kamakura period. She was originally a Shirabyoshi. As a result of her favor, she was given the position of lord of the Nagae Manors (Toyonaka City) and Kurahashi Manors in Settsu Province by the retired Emperor Gotoba. In 1219, the retired Emperor applied to the Kamakura Shogunate to abolish his position as land steward of the two manors, but was refused, which is said to be one of the causes of the Jokyu War (1221). After the war, she accompanied the retired Emperor when he was exiled to Oki, and served him closely until his death in 1239. The retired Emperor paired courtesans from Eguchi (Higashiyodogawa Ward, Osaka City) and Kanzaki (Amagasaki City) with his courtiers, and is said to have enjoyed banquets featuring Imayo, recitation, and dancing, with the addition of Shirabyoshi. The Nagae and Kurahashi Manors were also close to Kanzaki, and there is also room to consider the political relationship between the retired Emperor and the Kanzaki courtesans through Kamegiku. In addition, many of the retired emperors had sons and daughters born to Shirabyoshi. <References> Shuko Miura, "History of the Kamakura Period," "Weekly Asahi Encyclopedia: History of Japan" (Middle Ages I-3) (Mikawa Kei) Source: Asahi Japanese Historical Biography: Asahi Shimbun Publications Inc.
