Although scattered throughout the country, the Isa clan of Hitachi, Hizen and Nagato are relatively well-known as medieval samurai families. (1) The Isa clan of Hitachi This clan was based in Isa County, Hitachi (present-day western Shimodate City, Ibaraki Prefecture), and there are two theories about its origins: one is that it is the Kanmu Heishi clan of the Tamekata lineage (same lineage as the Hitachi Daijo clan), and the other is that it is the Fujiwara clan of the San'in lineage, with the latter saying that it is the same clan as the Date clan of Mutsu. In the early Kamakura period, Tamemune served as the magistrate of the Kashima Shrine construction, and the clan was active in the administration during the Jokyu War, and some of its members later served the shogun, but in the late Kamakura period, it is believed that they became vassals of the Hojo clan.

諸国に散在するが，中世武家として比較的著名なものに常陸，肥前，長門の伊佐氏がある。(1)常陸の伊佐氏　常陸の伊佐郡(現在の茨城県下館市西部)を本拠とする氏で，為賢流桓武平氏(常陸大掾氏と同系)とする説と，山陰流藤原氏とする説とがあり，後者によれば陸奥の伊達氏と同族とされる。鎌倉初期には為宗が鹿島社造営奉行を務め，行政は承久の乱で活躍し，その後将軍に近侍したものもあったが，鎌倉後期には北条氏の被官となったとみられる。
