A series of 13 books mainly about Japan in the Azuchi-Momoyama and Edo periods, translated and annotated by foreigners. Published in 1929. (1) Collection of Letters from Foreign Countries and Excerpts from Foreign Diaries, (2) (3) Kruusenstern's Travels in Japan, Vol. 1 and 2, (4) Keigen's Letters from England, (5) (6) Kaempfer's Travels to Edo, Vol. 1 and 2 (→ Kaempfer), (7) Siebold's Travels to Edo, (8) Siebold's History of Transport and Trade in Japan (→ Siebold), (9) Zuff's Memoirs of Japan and Vissel's Travels to Edo, (10) Thunberg's Travels to Japan (→ Thunberg), (11) Don Rodrigo's Travels in Japan (→ Vivero y Velasco) and Vizcaino's Report on the Expedition to the Island of Gold and Silver, (12) (13) Correspondence of Jesuits in Japan, Vol. 1 and 2. The following works were published in the series (7) above: "Siebold's Final Travels in Japan." The "Continued Ikoku Sōsho" series was planned to include (1) (2) The Japan Correspondence of the Christian Society (Bungo Edition), Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, (3) Valentine's Journal of Japan, (4) Annotations of Western Literature Related to Japan, (5) John Saris's Voyage to Japan (→Saris), and (6) Charon's Records of the Great Kingdom of Japan. However, only (1) and (2) were published under that name in 1936, and (5) and (6) were not published as part of a series. In 1966, a reprint of "Ikoku Sōsho" was published. Furthermore, Vol. I of the "New Ikoku Sōsho" (15 volumes in total) was published between 1968 and 1970. Shimo, I and II), (3) (4) Annual Report of the Society of Jesus to Japan, I and II, (5) The Accounts of the Tensho Embassy by de Sande, (6) The Accounts of a Voyage to Japan by Saris and the Accounts of a Stay in Japan by Villemin, (7) Teaching's Pictorial Guide to Japanese Customs, (8) Perry's Travels in Japan (written by SW Williams and edited by FW Williams), (9) The Accounts of Lord Elgin's Mission to Japan, (10) The Accounts of Pompe's Stay in Japan, (11) Goncharov's Travels in Japan, (12) (13) The Accounts of Eulenburg's Voyage to Japan, I and II, (14) (15) Maps of Japan at the End of the Tokugawa Period by Humbert, I and II. Subsequently, Volume II (10 volumes in total) was published from 1982 to 1985, and Volume III (10 volumes in total) was published from 2002 to 2003.
