A diplomatic record of early modern Japan and foreign countries, including correspondence and articles on their issuance. Two manuscripts. Compiled around the Kan'ei era (1624-1644). The first volume is mainly handwritten by Konchiin Suden, who served Tokugawa Ieyasu and was in charge of diplomatic affairs. It chronologically records articles on the arrival of foreign ships, diplomatic documents, letters, etc. from July 1608 (Keicho 13) to October 1629 (Kan'ei 6). The second volume is thought to have been compiled by Suden's disciple Konchiin Genryo and others after his death. It includes diplomatic letters from Genryo, Saisho Shoda/Shotai, Bunshi Gensho, and others, as well as poems and prose exchanged between foreign envoys and Hayashi Razan and others.
