A former town in Senboku-gun, Akita Prefecture, located almost in the center of the Senboku Plain. It is a grain-producing region to the east of Omagari City (now Daisen City). It is home to the ancient Hottasaku ruins (historic site). In March 2005, Omagari City merged with Kamioka-cho, Nishisenboku-cho, Nakasen-cho, Kyowa-cho, Ota-cho, and Minami-Tono-mura in Senboku-gun to become Daisen City. 29.56 km2 . 8,136 people (2003). 秋田県，仙北平野のほぼ中央を占める仙北郡の旧町。大曲市（現・大仙市）東隣の穀倉地帯である。古代の払田(ほった)柵遺跡（史跡）がある。2005年３月大曲市，仙北郡神岡町，西仙北町，中仙町，協和町，太田町，南外村と合併し市制，大仙市となる。29.56km2。8136人（2003）。
