1302‐63 (Kengen 1‐Shohei 18/Sadaharu 2) An aristocrat from the Northern and Southern Courts period. His father, Fujinori, was an unusual figure who served the Kamakura Shogunate as a scholar and writer, and later became one of the drafters of the Kenmu Code. Arinori, a high-ranking official in the fields of Daigaku-no-kami and Jibukyo, was also appointed head of the Zen and Ritsuryo Department of the Muromachi Shogunate, and is said to have had a great influence on the political thought of Ashikaga Tadayoshi. He was ousted as a member of the Tadayoshi faction during the Kanno Disturbance, but returned to the government in 1357 (Shohei 12, Enbun 2) and was awarded the rank of Junior Third Rank.
