Ship radio communication

Japanese:
Ship radio communication
Radio communication on ships is utilized as the only means of communication between shore and ships or between ships among themselves, for example, for communication to protect human life and property, such as distress communication to request rescue when a ship underway is in grave and imminent danger, such as fire or sinking, public communication between passengers, crew members and their families, and traffic control communication to provide information or request instructions from shipping companies, etc., in order to ensure efficient ship operation. Thus, radio communication on ships plays an important role as an indispensable tool for the safe operation of ships, but because radio communication is also performed with foreign coast stations (land-based radio stations that are the counterparts of radio communication on ships) and foreign ship stations (ship radio stations), strict requirements are imposed by international treaties, etc., and unification is being sought.
