A city in the southwest of Osaka Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1970. It occupies the plains facing Osaka Bay and the northern foot of the Izumi Mountains, with Shindachi and Tarui as its centers. It is served by the Hanwa Line, Nankai Electric Railway Main Line, and the Hanwa Expressway. It belongs to the Sennan Spinning Industrial Zone, and is involved in the production of tabi linings using monpa manufacturing techniques, thick cloth, and thick cotton thread, as well as brick and asbestos industries. It also grows rice and Senshu onions. With the opening of Kansai International Airport, the coast was reclaimed and Osaka Rinku Town was built, and development is underway as the core of the Rinku metropolitan area, with commerce, distribution, manufacturing, and housing. 48.98 km2 .
