A former town in Mitoyo County, western Kagawa Prefecture. In the center is the Mitoyo Plain on the north bank of the Saita River, where field crops thrive. Grapes and onions are produced here. The Yosan Line runs through the town, and Honzan-ji Temple, the 70th temple of the 88 Shikoku temples, is located here. In January 2006, it merged with Takase Town, Yamamoto Town, Mino Town, Takuma Town, Nio Town, and Saita Town in Mitoyo County to become a city. Area: 19.91 km2 . Population: 12,163 (2003).
