Japanese: 洗濯セッケン(洗濯石鹼) - せんたくせっけん（英語表記）household soap

Soap used in general households for washing clothes, etc. It can be in the form of a solid, powder, flakes, beads, etc. The necessary conditions for a laundry soap are that it has a strong cleaning power against dirt such as grime, oil, and mud, does not damage the fibers of clothes, and is inexpensive because it is an everyday item. It is also required to have moderate solubility in water and be free of uneven color and unpleasant odors. Furthermore, for solid soap, it is desirable that it has an appropriate hardness, is easy to mold, and does not crack.

一般家庭用で衣服等の洗濯に使用するセッケン。商品としての形状には，固状，粉状，フレーク状，ビーズ状等がある。洗濯セッケンとしては，あか，油，泥等の汚れに対する洗浄力が大きいこと，衣服の繊維を傷めないこと，日常品のため安価であることが必要条件であり，また，水に対する溶解性も適度であること，色むら･悪臭のないことが求められる。さらに，固状のものでは，適当な硬さをもち，成形性がよく，ひび割れ等のないものが望まれる。
