Grotius, known as the "Father of International Law," published his major work on international law in 1625 while in exile in Paris. From the standpoint of just war theory, he discussed in detail the prohibition, restriction, and permissibility of war, as well as the rules that should be observed during war. In relation to this, he addressed issues of international law in general and attempted to systematize international law. This book is the most important work in international law, having had a major impact on the development of international law to this day. Written in Latin, it has since gone through numerous editions and has been translated into English, French, German, Chinese, and Japanese, and has been widely read.
