Certified copy - Touhon

A certified copy is a document that is a complete copy of the entire contents of the original. It usually refers to a document created by a public official in the course of his/her duties based on the original, and in many cases, a notarized statement is added to the effect that the contents are identical to the original. This is called a certified copy or simply a certified copy. Examples include copies of family registers (Family Register Act, Articles 10 and 10-2), copies of registers, etc. (Real Estate Registration Act, Articles 119-121), and copies of court records (Civil Procedure Act, Article 91).

原本の内容の全体を原本そのままに完全に写した文書をいう。通常は、公務員が原本に基づいて職務上作成したものをさし、さらに、その内容が原本と相違ない旨を公証する文言が付記される場合が多い。これを認証ある謄本または単に認証謄本という。その例として、戸籍謄本（戸籍法10条・10条の2）、登記簿等の謄本（不動産登記法119条～121条）、訴訟記録の謄本（民事訴訟法91条）などがある。
