Election bulletin - Senkyokouhou

Japanese: 選挙公報 - せんきょこうほう

A document that lists the names, careers, and political views of candidates in public office elections, and is issued by the election management committee for each election (Public Offices Election Act). Depending on the type of election, there are compulsory and optional election bulletins. Compulsory election bulletins must be issued by the prefectural election management committee once for each election (excluding re-elections due to partial invalidation of an election) for members of the House of Representatives and House of Councillors and prefectural governors. Voluntary election bulletins are issued in accordance with the provisions of ordinances by the election management committee that manages the affairs related to the election in question for elections for prefectural assembly members, city/town/village assembly members, and city/town/village mayors (excluding re-elections due to partial invalidation of an election). Ordinances regarding optional election bulletins should be established in accordance with the provisions of the procedures for issuing mandatory election bulletins.

公職選挙の候補者の氏名，経歴，政見などを掲載した文書で，選挙管理委員会により各選挙ごとに発行される (公職選挙法) 。選挙の種類により，義務制選挙公報と任意制選挙公報とがある。義務制選挙公報は，衆参両議院議員および都道府県知事の選挙において，都道府県選挙管理委員会により選挙 (選挙の一部無効による再選挙を除く) ごとに1回発行されなければならない。任意制選挙公報は，都道府県議会議員，市町村議会議員および市町村長の選挙 (選挙の一部無効による再選挙を除く) において，当該選挙に関する事務を管理する選挙管理委員会により条例の定めるところに従って発行される。任意制選挙公報に関する条例は，義務制選挙公報の発行手続の規定に準じて定めるべきものとされている。
