Event (performance) - Event

...Apart from its usual meaning of "playing," "performing," "executing," or "performance," it is a very broad concept that refers to art or social actions that fall outside of existing genres or frameworks. Performance art, as distinguished from "performing arts," is an extension of the "happenings" and "events" of the 1950s and 1960s, and today these are often referred to as "performance" or "performance art." Happenings and events are "anti-art" that dismantle established styles and genres, and were influenced by Italian Futurism and Dadaism of the 1910s.
