A kana zoshi (traditional Japanese story). Written by Soga Kyū. Published in 1662 (Kanbun 2). Eight volumes. There is no biography of the author, but in the work he confesses that he was single and that he had visited Korea. There are 142 sections in total. It is an essay-like work that tells the lessons of Shinto, Confucianism, and Buddhism, and also records historical events and observations. It contains a variety of stories, such as the story of Noma Toroku, a retainer of Oda Nobunaga, the story of the monk Ikkyu, and the teachings of Daifuku Choja. 仮名草子。曾我休自作。1662年(寛文2)刊。8巻。作者については伝記不明であるが,作中に独身であったこと,朝鮮に行ったことなどが告白されている。全巻142段。随筆的なもので,神儒仏の教訓を語りつつ,また故事や見聞を書き記している。織田信長の家来野間藤六の話,一休和尚の話,大福長者の教えなど,雑多なものが含まれている。《可笑記》にはじまる仮名草子の随筆系統のもの。【野田 寿雄】
