Nasori

Japanese:
Nasori
The title of a Komagaku piece in gagaku. It is also written as "Nasori." It belongs to the Koraiichikotsu style. The origin of the piece is unclear. A dance for two people. It is said to represent two dragons dancing and playing, and is also known as the "Dance of the Twin Dragons." The "Ha" and "Kyu" parts of this piece are performed after a flute prelude called "Koranjo." Both the music and the dance are rhythmic and full of variety, and the composition of the piece is well-structured and a masterpiece. The dancer wears a ryoto costume, a dark green mask with long hanging hair, and holds a long, thin silver drumstick. Officially, it is danced in pair with the Saho piece "Ryo-o." "Nasori" may also be performed by one person, in which case the dance is called "Rakuson." Note that the "Nasori" handed down at Kasuga Taisha Shrine is a one-person dance, while "Rakuson" is a two-person dance.
