Kabuki dance piece. Tokiwazu. Original title: "Tsumorukoiyukinosekinoto (The Door of Love and Snow on the Pass)". It is the second most important piece of "Junihitoe Komachizakura" at Edo Kiriza in 1784, and was first performed by Nakamura Nakazo I and others. Words by Takada Hisaki, music by Tobaya Satocho I (also known as Kishizawa Shikisa II). Choreography by Nishikawa Senzo II. A two-volume, 90-minute long piece that conveys the atmosphere of the old-fashioned Edo face-showing show known as Tenmei-buri. Set at Osaka Pass, it describes the conspiracy that took place after the death of Emperor Ninmei, using the names of famous poets of the time such as Otomo no Kuronushi and Ono no Komachi. The story is absurd and fictional, but the action parts were a big hit, and it is said to be one of the best Tokiwazu pieces.
