Futagawa

Japanese: 二川 - ふたがわ

A district of Toyohashi City in the southeastern part of Aichi Prefecture. Formerly Futagawa-cho. It flourished as a post station on the old Tokaido road. According to the "Futagawa-shuku no Kennai Zu" (Map of Futagawa Inns) from 1864 (Genji 1), there were 31 inns, one main inn, one side inn, and six teahouses. The 33 volumes of the "Futagawa Honjin Inn Register" preserved by the former main inn, Baba House, are designated as a prefectural folk cultural property. The Baba House's front gate, entrance building, and main house with a mezzanine floor and latticework also remain.

愛知県南東部、豊橋市(とよはしし)の一地区。旧二川町。旧東海道の宿駅として栄えた。1864年（元治1）の『二川宿軒並図』によると、旅籠(はたご)31、本陣、脇(わき)本陣各1、茶屋6となっている。旧本陣馬場家保存の『二川本陣宿帳』33冊は県指定民俗文化財である。馬場家の表門、玄関棟、中二階や連子格子(れんじこうし)をもつ主屋も残る。
