Japanese: 西哲夢物語 - せいてつゆめものがたり

This book was discovered by political scientist Yoshino Sakuzo in a used bookstore in Hongo in 1921. It is a collection of a Japanese translation (Gneist Talks) of a lecture given by Gneist, who was Ito Hirobumi's advisor on constitution drafting, to Prince Fushimi Sadanari and his party when they visited Berlin in 1885-86, along with a Japanese translation of the Prussian Constitution and a Japanese translation of Rösler's proposed constitution (titled "Original Rules"). Subsequent research has revealed that it was secretly obtained by members of the Liberal Party and published to appeal to the public about the conservative nature of the Meiji Constitution. 政治学者吉野作造が，1921年本郷の古本屋の店頭で発見した書物。1885‐86年にベルリンを訪れた伏見宮貞愛親王一行に伊藤博文への憲法起草の助言者グナイストがなした講義の邦訳(〈グナイスト氏談話〉)と，プロイセン憲法邦訳および邦訳のレースラー憲法案(〈原規〉と題する)をとじたもので，自由党員たちがひそかに入手して，明治憲法の保守性を世に訴えるために公刊したものであることが後の研究によって判明した。【長尾竜一】
