Disc-winged bat (English spelling)

Japanese: スイツキコウモリ(吸付蝙蝠) - スイツキコウモリ（英語表記）disc‐winged bat

A general term for insectivorous bats with suckers on their front and back feet. A mammalian species that belongs to the Thyropteridae family of bats in the order Chiroptera. There are two species: the Honduran short-eared bat Thyroptera discifera and the Spix short-eared bat T. tricolor . They are endemic to the New World and are found in tropical rainforests from southern Mexico to eastern Brazil and on the island of Trinidad. Forearm length 2.5-4.0 cm, head and body length 3.5-5.2 cm, tail length 2.5-3.3 cm.

前･後足に吸盤がある虫食性コウモリの総称。翼手目スイツキコウモリ科Thyropteridaeに属する哺乳類。ホンジュラススイツキコウモリThyroptera disciferaとスピックススイツキコウモリT.tricolorの2種がある。新世界特産で，メキシコ南部からブラジル東部までとトリニダード島に分布し，熱帯雨林に生息する。前腕長2.5～4.0cm，頭胴長3.5～5.2cm，尾長2.5～3.3cm。
