Political system

Japanese: 政治体系 - せいじたいけい（英語表記）political system

A theoretical model that treats political phenomena or political life as a cohesive system of behavior. It is composed of various interrelated elements. It is an intellectual construct created by applying general systems theory, developed in the fields of biology and engineering, to politics, and does not exist as such in reality. If we view society as a whole as a total system, the political system is a sub-system on par with the economy and culture, and is said to have its own unique structure and function. Systems theory was first introduced into political science by the American political scientist D. Easton.

政治現象ないし政治生活を一つのまとまりをもった行動体系としてとらえる理論モデル。相互に関連をもつ諸要素によって構成される。生物学や工学の領域で発展した一般システム論を政治に応用して構成された知的構築物で，現実にそのまま存在するものではない。政治体系は，社会全体を一つのトータル･システムとみれば，経済や文化等と並ぶ一つのサブ(下位)システムであり，特有の構造と機能をもっているとされる。システム論を最初に政治学に導入したのはアメリカの政治学者D.イーストンである。
