Bos primigenius (English spelling)

...The cave paintings of Altamira, which are paintings of people from the Late Paleolithic period, show bison being hunted. The cave paintings of Lascaux, also from the Late Paleolithic period, show the hunting of Bos primigenius , a proto-cattle species thought to be the wild ancestor of the first domesticated northern cattle. It is said that the last wild cattle in this region were hunted during the reign of Ramses III of ancient Egypt, when cattle breeding was already practiced.
