Elephant - Elephant
The largest terrestrial mammal in the Proboscidea family, Elephantidae. It has thick skin and little hair. Its nose, together with its upper lip, is cylindrical and long, and the protrusion at the tip is good for picking up objects. The incisors on the upper jaw are tusk-like (ivory). They live in colonies in grasslands and forests, and consume 45-90 kg of plant matter such as leaves, branches, and grass per day, and 90-180 liters of water. They have one baby per litter, and live for about 60 years. There are many fossil species, but there are two living species. African elephants live in the savannas of Africa, and males can reach a height of 3.3 m and a weight of over 6 tons, but females are smaller. They have large ears, and both sexes have large tusks. Asian elephants (Indian elephants are a subspecies of Asian elephants) live in the forests of South Asia, and can reach a height of 2.5-3 m and a weight of 5 tons. Females have small tusks. Because of their gentle nature and intelligence, they are used for transportation and hunting. The forest elephant, a subspecies of African elephant, lives in the forests of Central Africa, has rounded ears, and is about 2.2 meters high at the shoulder.
