Seikaji Temple

Japanese: 棲霞寺 - せいかじ
Seikaji Temple
(1) An old temple in Setsuzan, northeast of Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China. Also written as Qixia Temple. According to the "Records of Gaoseng," it is said that the first temple was built by the Southern Qi monk Ming Shao, who built a hermitage and established a Buddhist monk temple after receiving Buddhist teachings. After the Tang dynasty, the temple's name was changed many times, but in 1392 it was restored to Qixia Temple. There is an octagonal five-story stone pagoda (from the Sui dynasty) with a relief of the eight aspects of Shakyamuni Buddha on the base. (2) Another name for Seiryo Temple.
