Toda clan

Japanese: 戸田氏 - とだうじ
Toda clan
The original surname was Seiwa Genji. Nobuyoshi, the 5th generation grandson of Minamoto no Yoshiie, became the land steward of Toda-sho in Owari and thus took the name Toda. Although Munemitsu was the biological son of Toin Sanehiro, he took the surname Fujiwara after joining the Toda clan. During the Sengoku period, the clan served the Imagawa clan, but later belonged to the Tokugawa clan, and many of the clan members became daimyo families. These included Matsumoto in Shinano, Utsunomiya in Shimotsuke, Sogano in Shimotsuke, Ashikaga in Shimotsuke, Ogaki in Mino, and Ogaki-Shindennomura in Mino, and in the Meiji period, Ogaki in Mino was awarded the title of count and the others the title of viscount.
