1785‐1855 Thailand's greatest poet. Sunthongpu is his nickname. His real name is Poo. He wrote many travel poems, including parts of Kunchang Kunphaeng and the masterpiece Phra Apaimani. He was given the title of Kun Sunthongwhahan during the reign of Rama II, and was called back to the throne at age 66 during the reign of Rama IV, where he was appointed Phra Sunthongwhahan and became the king's right-hand man. When he was two years old, his father became a Buddhist monk, and his mother remarried and became a nurse at the royal palace.
