The Encyclopedia Americana is one of the most representative encyclopedias in the United States, along with Britannica. The first edition (1829-33) was based on the 7th edition of Brockhouse, but in the 20th century it was radically revised, reaching 30 volumes in 1918-20, and a new edition has been published annually since 1936.
