Frosted Glass

Japanese: すりガラス
Frosted Glass
Also called frosted glass or matte glass. A type of light-diffusing plate glass that prevents light from passing through in a straight line by creating fine scratches on only one side of the smooth glass surface to make the shapes of objects invisible. It is created by blowing sand or other abrasives with pressurized air, or by rubbing with water using a brush with emery board. In the case of light bulbs, a fluoride solution is poured in to chemically corrode the inside.
