Nagatsuka Tomb

Japanese: 長塚古墳 - ながつかこふん

This keyhole-shaped tumulus is located in Gongenmae, Yamichi-cho, Ogaki City, Gifu Prefecture. It is located on an alluvial fan on the north bank of the Aikawa River, where the Nobi Plain opens up from Omi through Sekigahara. Built facing west, it measures 82m in length, 45m in diameter at the rear mound, and 31m in width at the front. It is said to have been used to create haniwa. During excavation work in 1929, two wooden coffins were discovered in the rear mound, perpendicular to the main axis of the tumulus. Of these, mirrors, beads, a shovel-shaped stone, swords, and bronze arrowheads were excavated from the eastern coffin, while mirrors, beads, stone bracelets, stone bowls, stone mallets, and swords were excavated from the western coffin.

岐阜県大垣市矢道町権現前に所在する前方後円墳。近江から関ヶ原を経て濃尾平野が開けるところにあり，相川北岸の扇状地に立地する。西面して築かれ，全長82m，後円部径45m，前方部幅31mを測る。埴輪の樹立をみるという。1929年の土取り工事のさい，後円部から，古墳の主軸に直交する2基の木棺を発見した。このうち，東棺から鏡，玉類，鍬形石（くわがたいし），刀，銅鏃などが，西棺から鏡，玉類，石釧（いしくしろ），石製合子（ごうす），石杵，刀などが出土した。
