A group of Greek islands in the central Aegean Sea, excluding the Cyclades. The name means "scattered." It is divided into the Northern Sporades, which includes Skiathos, Skopelos, and Skyros, in the western Aegean Sea, and the Southern Sporades, which is on the coast of Asia Minor, the latter being called the Dodecanese. The Northern Sporades are mostly covered with limestone mountains, and are primarily used for livestock farming. The largest island is Skyros, with an area of 210 ^km2 .

エーゲ海の中央にある，キクラデス諸島以外のギリシア領の島群。名称は〈散在する〉という意味。スキアトス島，スコペロス島，スキロス島などエーゲ海西部の北スポラデスと，小アジア沿岸の南スポラデスとに分かれるが，後者はドデカネス諸島と呼ばれる。北スポラデスはほとんどが石灰岩の岩山でおおわれ，牧畜を主とする。最大島はスキロスで210km²。
