Liquid Seal - Stationary Seal

A type of sealing device used in high-speed rotation such as steam turbines. When a disk attached to a shaft rotates inside a case filled with water or other liquid, the liquid is pressed against the outer periphery of the case by centrifugal force, preventing the leakage of gas inside. 蒸気タービンなど高速回転に用いる密封装置の一種。軸に取り付けた円板が水などの液体を入れたケース内で回転すると，液体は遠心力でケース外周に押しつけられ内部の気体のもれを防ぐ。圧力差のあまり大きくない場合に適用。
