A collection of Buddhist tales from the Heian period. There is a two-volume version said to have been written by Miidera monk Jitsuei (the story of his repairing a Jizo statue in 1033 appears in this book), and a further 14-volume version, with volume 3 said to have been written by Jitsuei and volumes 4 to 14 said to have been written by Ryokan (a 16th-17th century person, but details are unknown). The contents are basically similar to the miraculous tales of Amida and Kannon, such as the origins of the temples that housed Jizo and the benefits gained from faith in Jizo, but the stories of Jizo's miracles are characterized by the many tales of Jizo being resurrected from hell.
