Born on September 18, 1868. Became the first principal of Himeji Normal School in 1901. Founded the Educational Century Society in 1923, and founded Jido no Mura Elementary School in Ikebukuro, Tokyo the following year. Became principal of Josai Gakuen in 1929, and chairman of the New Education Association in 1930. Died on January 11, 1941, at the age of 74. Born in Chikuzen (Fukuoka Prefecture).
