A village located in south-central Belgium, west of Namur. The rock in front of the cave named Béch aux Roches (meaning "beak of the rock") overlooks the Aulno River. It is commonly known as the Spee Cave. Excavation began in 1879, but it was the discovery of Neanderthals by de Puydhote and Roest in 1886 that made Spee famous. Two adult bodies and one infant were excavated, and two layers of the Cinchona-type Mousterian culture and one layer of the Acheulean-type Mousterian culture were identified.
