A Korean poet of the mid-Yi dynasty. His pen name was Yue-se. His pen name was Gosan or Haewong. His posthumous name was Chung-heon. He passed the literary examination in the 6th year of the reign of King Injo (1628) with a first place. He became the prince's teacher and mentored Prince Bongnim (later Hyojong). He served as a councilor in the Ministry of Rites and vice-president of the ministry. Due to his rigid character, he was exiled for 20 years and retired for 19 years, but these lifestyles are well reflected in his works. In the jungle of classical Chinese and Confucianism at the time, he tried to express nature and life in his own language, and showed his own originality that did not follow the ancients, opening up new realms in sijo. He made a great contribution to beautifully refining, mellowing, and improving the Korean language, and is known as the leading figure in sijo literature. The collection of poems and prose "Kozan Iko" (6 volumes, 6 books) contains about 80 poems in the Shijo style and many classical Chinese poems and prose.

朝鮮，李朝中期の詩人。字，約而。号，孤山または海翁。諡号，忠憲。仁祖6 (1628) 年別試文科に壮元及第。王子師傅 (しふ) となり鳳林大君 (のちの孝宗) を輔導した。礼曹参議，同副承旨などを歴任。性格が剛直であったために，生涯のうち 20年余流刑にされ，19年間隠居生活をおくったが，このような生活が作品によく反映している。彼は当時の漢文と儒教のジャングルのなかで自然と人生を自国語で表現することに努め，古人に追従しない独自の創意性を発揮，時調 (シジョ) に新しい境地を開いた。朝鮮語を美しく彫琢，醇化し，向上させた功績は大きく，時調文学の第一人者と称される。詩文集『孤山遺稿』 (6巻6冊) に約 80首の時調と多くの漢詩文が収録されている。
