Nikolai Nikolaevich Sukhanov
1882‐1940
Russian critic. His real name was N. G. Gimmel. He lost his father, a railway official, at an early age and studied hard at Moscow University. He joined the Socialist Revolutionary Party while still a student, and later aimed to unify Marxism and Narodnikism. He contributed to the establishment of the Provisional Government during the February Revolution of 1917. His book Notes of the Revolution (1922-23), published in Berlin, is famous as a memoir of this time. After the October Revolution, he continued to work at a Soviet academic institution, but was arrested in 1931 in the Menshevik National Secretariat Incident and died in prison.

ロシアの評論家。本名ギンメルN.N.Gimmer。早くに鉄道官吏の父を失い,苦学してモスクワ大学に学ぶ。在学中からエス・エル党に入り,後にマルクス主義とナロードニキ主義の統一をめざす。1917年の二月革命では臨時政府の成立に貢献した。ベルリンで出版された著作《革命の手記》(1922‐23)はこの時の回想として著名。十月革命後もソビエトの学術機関に勤務したが,31年メンシェビキ全国事務局事件で逮捕され獄死。
