An official from the Sengoku period to the Edo period. He inherited the position of Kodoneri (Lord Chamberlain) of the Kurodo-dokoro (Treasury Office) and controlled the foundries throughout the country. He took the surname Inbe and served as a Hohei-shi (official messenger) during the Shikinen Sengu (periodical rebuilding of the Ise Grand Shrine). His control over the foundries was authoritative, with the Emperor as his backing, but he effectively lost control in 1870 during the Meiji Restoration. His Shinkei documents, which span from the Sengoku period to the early Meiji period, are valuable for research into the organization of foundries and the realities of lower-ranking court nobles. → Related topics Tenmei Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
