Trumpeter (English spelling)
A general term for birds in the family Psophiidae (Gruiformes). This family consists of three species: Psophia crepitans , P. leucoptera , and P. viridis . They are found mainly in tropical South America in the Amazon and Orinoco river basins, living in the jungles. Total length is 43-53 cm. All three species are stocky birds with rounded backs like hunchbacks. The secondary feathers and scapular feathers are long, and when the wings are folded, they cover the back of the body like a straw mat.
