A fishing village in the province of Utrecht in the Netherlands. It is now part of the municipality of Bunschoten. It was once a seaport facing the Zuiderzee (now the IJsselmeer) and was a thriving fishing town. What makes Sparkenburg especially famous is the traditional formal dress worn by women here, with its broad shoulders, which is very similar to the kasagi (traditional Japanese formal attire).
