Stellite

Japanese: ステライト

Stellite is a special alloy. It is a trademark name. Its ingredients are 40-55% cobalt, 15-35% chromium, 10-20% tungsten, 5% or less iron, and 1% or less manganese. It has excellent hardness, heat resistance, and corrosion resistance, and is used as cast without the need for hardening; it cannot be forged . It is used for cutting tools, dies, drills, bits, engine exhaust valves, etc.

〘名〙 (Stellite) 特殊合金の一つ。商標名。成分はコバルト四〇～五五パーセント、クロム一五～三五パーセント、タングステン一〇～二〇パーセント、鉄五パーセント以下、マンガン一パーセント以下。硬さ・耐熱性・耐食性にすぐれ、焼入れの必要なく鋳造のまま使用され、鍛造(たんぞう)はできない。切削工具類、ダイス、ドリル、バイト、発動機の排気バルブなどに用いる。
