Steradian - Steradian (English spelling)

Japanese: ステラジアン - すてらじあん（英語表記）steradian

Radians are the units of plane angles, and steradians are the units of solid angles. On a circumference, the plane angle between two radii that cut an arc of the same length as the radius of the circle is 1 rad, which is 180/π (pi) in degrees, or about 57.3 degrees. The solid angle contained in a cone that cuts an area equal to the square of the radius of a sphere on the surface of the sphere, with the center of the sphere as its vertex, is 1 sr, and the total solid angle is 4π sr. In this way, plane angles and solid angles are expressed as the ratio of lengths and the ratio of lengths squared, respectively, and therefore do not include the dimension of a base quantity (length). Therefore, both of these units are the same as the number "1", which is inconvenient in that the dimension of the angle cannot be clearly stated in algebraic expressions (such as equations for quantities). Therefore, in the SI, radians and steradians are derived units with their own names.

ラジアンは平面角の単位、ステラジアンは立体角の単位。円周上で、その円の半径と同じ長さの弧を切り取る2つの半径に挟まれた平面角が1 radで、度で表すと180/π(円周率)、すなわち、約57.3度となる。球の中心を頂点とし、球面上でその球の半径の2乗の面積を切り取る錐体に含まれる立体角が1 srで、全立体角は4π srとなる。このように、平面角、立体角は、それぞれ長さの比、長さの2乗の比で表されるため、基本量(長さ)の次元を含まない。したがって、これらの単位はいずれも数「1」と同じになり、代数式(量の方程式など)の中で角度の次元を明示できない、という不便がある。そこで、SIでは、ラジアンとステラジアンを固有の名称を持つ組立単位としている。
