CGS unit of luminance. Symbol sb. In the International System of Units (SI), the unit of luminance is the candela per m2 , also known as the nit (symbol nt). One nit is the luminance of a surface of a light source with uniform luminance and an area of 1 m2 when the vertical luminous intensity is 1 candela, while a stilb is 104 times that amount, i.e. 1sb = 1cd/ cm2 = 10,000cd/ m2 = 10,000nt. → Related article Lambert Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
