A Nagauta shamisen player. Currently, he is the head of the Kinekatsu school (Katsugoro, Katsutaro, etc.), and is in his seventh generation.

(1820-96) He was the biological son of the first head of the Nagauta family, and his previous name was Kosaburo. In 1840 (Tenpo 11), he took on the name of the second head of the Nagauta family. In 1848 (Kaei 1), he founded the Nagauta Kinekatsu Society. He was nicknamed "Baba no Onikatsu" (Baba's Onikatsu) because he lived in Bakuro-cho, Nihonbashi, Edo. He actively attempted to separate Nagauta from theater and incorporate Noh songs. He composed many famous pieces, including "Utsubozaru," "Funabenkei," "Adachigahara," "Renjishi," "Miyakodori," "Kimi no Niwa," and "Ayame Yukata." He died on February 5, 1896.

The third generation was succeeded by the second son of the second generation, the fourth by the third generation's wife, the fifth by the fourth generation's second daughter, and the sixth by the fifth generation's elder sister.

(1927-) Son of the 6th. Real name Morio Sakaguchi. Studied under Katsutaro the 4th and Kazuyoshi the 5th. Succeeded to the name of the 7th in 1941 (Showa 16).

(1820―96)初世の実子で、前名小三郎。1840年(天保11)2世を襲名。48年(嘉永1)長唄杵勝会を結成。江戸・日本橋馬喰(ばくろう)町に住んでいたことから「馬場の鬼勝」とよばれる。長唄の芝居からの独立や、謡曲を取り入れるなどの試みを積極的に行った。『靭猿(うつぼざる)』『船弁慶(ふなべんけい)』『安達原(あだちがはら)』『連獅子(れんじし)』『都鳥』『喜三(きみ)の庭』『菖蒲浴衣(あやめゆかた)』など、数多くの名曲を作曲。明治29年2月5日没。
