A town in Nishimuro County in the southern part of Wakayama Prefecture. Mostly mountainous, the main industries are forestry and fishing. The main settlement is the fishing port of Susami at the mouth of the Susami River, and it is served by the Kisei Main Line and the Kisei Expressway. Area 174.46 km2 . Population 4,730 (2010).
